Tar Sands Pre-Hearing Conference

Pre-Hearing Conference  (Public Utilities Commission) 35 Minnesotans showed up in a powerful way last week at the MN Public Utilities Commission to be witnesses to a livable future. This type of showing at a “scheduling meeting” between parties for the contested case hearing is rare and it made an impression on Judge Lipman, the Administrative Law Judge presiding over the case.  And it seemed he was working hard to make an impression on us through […]

Join Us At The Public Utilities Commission: Sept. 4th

On Wednesday, September 4th, at 9:30am, the Public Utilities Commission will be making a decision on the completeness of Enbridge’s Certificate of Need and will determine if a Contested Case Hearing is necessary. We need to pack the PUC to send the message that the contested case hearing IS necessary and we expect the PUC to give this issue the time and consideration it deserves. It is also another opportunity to message that the exploitation […]

MN350 takes a “dramatic” turn during Summer Heat

The end of July in Minnesota, and barely 60 degrees with intermittent showers every 20 minutes; it was not the weather we were expecting for Summer Heat. Nonetheless, the sun shone out from the heavy clouds at exactly the right time, and our beautiful puppets and paper mache props went across the bridge miraculously dry. This action highlighted the who, what, where, and whys of Minnesota’s Tar Sands Fight in a larger than life vibrant […]

A Trip to the Pipeline Narrative

A Trip to the Pipeline Narrative

The trip to the pipeline started out on the bus from Minneapolis with an informative conversation about the nitty gritty of tar sands, and a quick overview of its history in Minnesota, accompanied with shared fruit, and napping. Our only stop along the way was our first destination, Cass Lake, where we learned that the dirty tar sand oil pipelines cross right under the lake. From there we were led by the well-informed and infectiously […]
