Comment on the proposed Line 3 by Nov 23!

IMG_20170928_141838292On November 20, the State of Minnesota concluded a 3 week evidentiary hearing on whether to allow Enbridge to build the proposed new Line 3 tar sands pipeline. Read our recaps of Day 1, Day 6, Day 8 and Day 9.

Occasional moments of humor and enlightenment enlivened the days of long,  grueling hearings. We learned about insurance, integrity digs, apportionment, cultural impacts, and the pain of the indigenous community while we bonded as a community over lunch, sharing wild rice dishes. Enbridge’s deception at acquiring multiple leases, their lack of understanding about wild rice and their callousness at abandoning the old pipe in the ground forever also became apparent during these days. The youth climate intervenors held their own, asked probing questions and demonstrated the power of conviction, keeping us going with noon and evening debriefings. All the intervenors must now write their “briefs” or legal summaries on the “Need” and “Route” for this pipeline.
