MN350 statement on PUC Line 3 decision

In taking this position — with the three Democrats, one Republican, and one independent on the commission backing Enbridge — we see a few specific things. We see five commissioners who have chosen to disregard an extensive record, including the adamant recommendation of the Minnesota Department of Commerce, that shows that the project does not meet need criteria and should not be built. We see treaty rights and future generations being utterly tokenized and disregarded […]

The ad was signed by Minnesota legislators and leaders urging the PUC to prioritize protection of our land and water over the profits of a Canadian oil company. From Honor the Earth’s message: “The premise of Line 3 is that we […]

Occasional moments of humor and enlightenment enlivened the days of long,  grueling hearings. Federal Judge Ruling on Alberta Clipper Scheme

The Federal Judge’s ruling on the Enbridge Alberta Clipper Switcheroo Scheme has just been released. The backroom scheme switched oil between two crude oil pipelines just at the international border to evade lack of a permit on the new line – the older line has a vague old permit. The ruling did not endorse the scheme, nor discuss its legality, but stated the court did not have the authority over decisions regarding cross border permitting. […]
