Climate Justice Deep Canvass Fellow

MN350 is a dynamic, volunteer-led grassroots organization building a people’s movement to demand that Minnesota take the lead addressing the climate crisis in a just and sustainable way.

We are seeking 4-5 part-time, dedicated, passionate, talented Canvass Fellows for an innovative project to shift opinion toward just climate action. The position will start as soon as possible (early September). Canvass Fellows will co-lead and organize a large scale, volunteer-driven, field experiment in deep canvassing, a door to door outreach approach based on drawing out deeply held personal beliefs, shared values and experiences. The position will include recruitment and training of volunteers, regular canvasses and follow up phone banks, and strategic input to the overall Deep Canvass project.

Key Duties:

  • Work with MN350’s Deep Canvass Director and Deep Canvass Team to manage a deep canvass vs. regular canvass field experiment that will hit 18,000 doors in the second half of 2018.
  • Canvass in Twin Cities and surrounding area suburbs.
  • Co-facilitate canvass trainings for incoming volunteers.
  • Manage systems for training, tracking, documenting and facilitating skilled volunteer work.


  • Detail oriented, enthusiastic advocate for climate justice.
  • Excellent communications skills with new constituents and volunteers.
  • Creative approaches to problem solving.
  • Previous experiences with community organizing, elections, and/or canvass skills strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Voter Action Network (VAN) and other databases.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Somali and English) skills a plus.

Evening and weekend hours will be required on a regular basis. Access to vehicle preferred, but not required.

Compensation: Starting hourly rate: $15/hour. Part time, 18-30 hours/week starting early September. Full/part time work available through elections.

Location: Position will be based in MN350’s office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
